Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay was officially opened on 12 October 2002. Located on a 6 hectares waterfront land by Marina bay, this is one of the world’s busiest arts centres.
Esplanade is a performing arts centre for everybody with world-class performance spaces, facilities and services.
Merlion Park – within a short walking distant from Esplanade Park. There are 2 Merlion statues here, a smaller one and the main Merlion that were both built by Lim Nang Seng.
Merlion is a statue with the head of a lion and the body of a fish – measuring 8.6 metres high and weighs 70 tonnes. The original Merlion statue was located at the opening of the Singapore River. With the completion of the Esplanade Bridge in 1997, the statue was relocated to its current site facing Marina Bay in 2002.
Singapore Flyer – the world’s largest observation wheel. Standing at a height of 165m, the Singapore Flyer is equivalent to a 42-storey building. Be treated to a visual 360° of Singapore breathtaking & panoramic views as the wheel turns.
