TunkuAbdulRahmanMarinePark consists of a cluster of islands and they are GayaIsland, SapiIsland, ManukanIsland, SulugIsland and MamutikIsland. These islands are located in the South China Sea off the coast of Kota Kinabalu in Sabah. Visitors can get to the islands by speedboat that takes only about 10-20 minutes from Jesselton Point ferry terminal (formerly known as Sabah Port Authority jetty). The passenger ferry terminal is located a few minutes away from Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. Visitors to the island are required to pay a marine park conservation fee. Read more ….
Manukan island is just 10 minutes away from Kota Kinabalu mainland by speedboat. There are many activities for visitors on Manukan island. Such as para-sailing, snorkeling, Mountain trekking, scuba diving. Visitors can stay on the island overnight at Manukan Island Resort which is operated by Sutera Sanctuary Lodges. There is good spread of buffet from the Manukan Island Resort restaurant on the beach. Manukan island is more developed than the rest of the islands in this area as it is one of the biggest. This island has a big, nice and good toilet / bathroom facility. They should provide lockers on the islands too. This island is quite big and I would rather spend my whole day here than to go to other islands. Marine life is more interesting further out – nearer to the jetty but you cannot find much marine life nearer to shore. Water near the shore is dirty though.
