Indonesia: Bintan Island

Bintan Island is part of the Riau Islands of Indonesia and the capital is Tanjung Pinang. It is located less than 40 km from Singapore. Although it is larger than Batam, it is less polulated. Bintan resorts are popular with the Spa facilities as well as the long stretch of beach. Food from the resorts are expensive but there is a frequent shuttle bus that brings guest to the town for shopping and dining. The currency used is Singapore Dollar.

Ideal for a quiet tranquil vacation.

Getting to Bintan Island from Singapore:

Ferries depart several times daily from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (Singapore) to Tanjung Pinang and Bintan. The journey takes less than 45 minutes across the Straits of Singapore.

Kota Kinabalu: Sapi Island

Sapi island is left with little coastline. It is no longer the glorious beautiful island it was on postcards taken 15 years ago !

In September 2009, the shore is what you see in this picture here. The Jetty is also extremely HIGH !!! Even the westerners have difficulty boarding the boat. Not user friendly, is it built for humans ??? I wonder who is the one who had this jetty built in the first place !

Singapore: Chendol & Bandung Drink

Chendol is a favourite ice dessert sold everywhere in Singapore. From Hawker centre to restaurants.

Bandung is a drink made from milk and rose syrup.

Kota Kinabalu: Manukan Island

Manukan Island is off the coast of Kota Kinabalu. Ferry departs from Jesselton Poing Ferry Terminal.

Manukan island is beautiful with good toilet / bathroom facility. Although there are no lockers on all the islands.

There is good spread of buffet from the restaurant on the beach. This island is quite big and I would rather spend my whole day here than to go to other islands. Marine life is interesting and lot of them can be spotted near the jetty.

Kota Kinabalu: Mamutik Island

Go to Jesselton Point Ferry Terminal to book your ticket to the islands off Kota Kinabalu. Mamutik Island is very small and the toilet / bathroom facility is very run-down. Out of about 4 rooms, only 2 is usable. The whole place was very dirty. The sea water is clear but not clean. Jetty is ridiculously high ! Only those with long legs can board the boat comfortably.
